Russian court charges RBC 390,000 rbl under Rosneft case
MOSCOW, Dec 12 (PRIME) -- The Moscow Arbitration Court satisfied a claim by oil major Rosneft against media holding RBC on Monday but reduced the penalty to 390,000 rubles from 3.2 billion rubles requested by the oil company.
Rosneft demanded to recognize an article published in newspaper RBC and broadcast by RBC-TV on April 11, where sources said that Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin had asked the government to protect the company from a possible stake increase by BP in case of Rosneft privatization, untrue. The company also demanded compensation for harm to its reputation.
The court qualified the information released by RBC as false and ordered the defiant to publish a disclaimer.
RBC-TV and BusinessPress, the holding founder, were listed as the defendants, and several reporters of the holding, Konstantin Bochkaryov, Timofei Dzyadko, Lyudmila Podobedova and Maxim Tovkailo, were listed as co-defendants in the case.
